About Me

Hi, I’m Billy — a photographer based in Derbyshire with a big love for storytelling, honest moments and the kind of images that feel like memories. I am drawn to a candid, documentary style of photography: letting moments unfold naturally, without forcing or staging anything.

Right now, I balance photography alongside my full-time job in education. I’m not a full-time freelancer (yet), but I’m learning, experimenting, and finding my way — slowly building something meaningful around the time and energy I have.

When I’m not working, you will usually find me wandering my local area with my camera in hand, often in the Peak District with my Golden Retriever trotting ahead of me.

Why I Built This Site

This space is my way of documenting the journey — as it’s happening.

I’m not looking back from a place of success. I’m figuring things out in real time: the shoots I take on, the personal work I’m exploring, the challenges, the decisions, and the lessons that inevitably come with trying to grow creatively while living a normal, busy life.

A lot of that mindset comes from my Grandad.
Every year, he would make a calendar or a little book filled with photos from his walks and travels with my Nan — full of warmth, humour, and small moments that mattered to him. Since his passing, those books have meant more to me than I ever expected. They’re a big part of why I chase slower days, long walks, and photographs that feel like keepsakes.

In my own way, this site is a continuation of that — documenting life as it unfolds, one moment at a time.

What This Space Is

This isn’t a polished portfolio pretending everything is perfect.
It’s a mix of:

• the work I’m creating for clients and for myself

• the moments I don’t want to forget

• behind-the-scenes glimpses

• reflections on creativity, balance, and learning

• stories from the walks and adventures that shape how I see the world
